Every year, it is “Casual Day” before the first football game of the season, when Alabama and Auburn football fans wear t-shirts and jerseys the Friday before game day in lieu of business attire. This year, show your support for individuals with disabilities and their families by enlisting your local business, community group, church, friends and family to wear the United Ability t-shirt on April 27 – United Ability Day.

Even though football fans might claim it, the original “Casual Day” began nearly three decades ago by supporters of United Ability (formerly UCP of Greater Birmingham), and we’ve got the pictures to prove it.

Casual Day 2011

A Birmingham original, previously known as Casual Day or casual 4 ABILITY, this year’s unifying event is now called United Ability Day – a day we join together as a community in our support of United Ability’s life-changing programs.

In a nutshell, here is how United Ability Day works.

On April 27 – on United Ability Day – co-workers, friends and family throughout our community will wear the United Ability t-shirt to show unified support for United Ability’s efforts to help individuals with disabilities dream new dreams.

The shirts are $20 a piece, which all goes directly to fund United Ability’s programs and mission of empowering individuals of all abilities to lead full and meaningful lives.

All shirts need to be purchased and ordered by April 13th.
