Don’t scramble your eggs in Vulcan’s 2nd annual Drink and Drop Competition

It’s a classic grade-school physics experiment. Design a contraption that will protect an egg from becoming scrambled when dropped from above. Well, this is the adult version. And it is FUN.
Vulcan Park and Museum is inviting you to participate in their 2nd annual Drink and Drop competition on April 5. Test your physics know-how, your creativity, and maybe your luck as you drop an egg from Vulcan’s 124 ft high platform.
The Challenge
Your team must construct a device that will keep your egg from going “kersplat!” once it hits the ground.
Teams consist of five individuals that combine their physics smarts and creative innovation to build the most protective contraption. The cost is $100/team and proceeds support the 29th Annual Brent Newman Memorial Egg Drop. Registration is open until March 29th, so get your team together NOW!
The rules? Your device must be made by your team. NO STORE BOUGHT CONTRAPTIONS! Oh, and parachutes, wings, propellors, and fire are not allowed (there’s always that one guy).
Don’t worry, the eggs will be provided.
The Prizes
Win, and your team takes home a Vulcan “Bobble-Butt” trophy that is affixed to a piece of marble from Vulcan’s pre-restoration exterior! You can actually take home a piece of the Vulcan. COOL. BEANS.
And the categories are:
- Biggest Splat
- The Greenest Egg in the Ham (most environmentally friendly)
- Most Egg-celent Design
- The Best Laid Egg
The FUN
Vulcan is inviting everyone out to participate in the fun, even if you don’t want to participate in the drop itself!
Now, getting to watch adults drop eggs from the top of Birmingham’s famous iron statue is fun enough in itself, but what would make it even better? You guessed it. Beer!
Ghost Train Brewing Company will be on hand providing their delicious beer for the event! AND your admission to the event includes a free drink ticket!
Admission to the event is $10 (unless you’re a Vulcan member, then it’s only $8) and includes one free drink ticket! Buy your tickets online now!
How egg-cited are you for this awesome event? Let us know!
