Celebrate the Grand Opening of D’s Tamales in Birmingham’s Five Points

Today is the day! D’s Tamales Restaurant and Bar is celebrating their Grand Opening in Birmingham’s Five Points South.

D’s Tamales, founded by Darryl Crockett, opened its first location in 2007 in the city of Hueytown. It was here that D’s became one of the most family-friendly spots to eat. Now, it is expanding its community by opening a second location in Birmingham’s Five Points South.

“We had been looking at expanding to a new location in the Five Points South area for quite some time,” said Maria Patterson owner and general manager of D’s Tamales Restaurant and Bar. “The timing and location seemed to be perfect for growth and its everything we wanted in a space. We are beyond excited to become a part of the Five Points South neighborhood.”

While at D’s Tamales Grand Opening, look out for some local leaders who will be attending the event, including Birmingham Council President Valerie Abbot, Steve Alexander, Chairman of the Five Points Alliance and Danny Jones of the Five Points South Neighborhood Association.

So what makes D’s Tamales Grand Opening so… grand? Great specials, of course!

Grand Opening day specials will include 20% off each ticket purchase. Get an extra 10% off if you “like” their Facebook page. Discounts will be available from 11a.m.-5p.m.

Though best known for their hand-crafted tamales, D’s also features a variety of items from burritos and chicken wings to sandwiches, salads and fish dishes. There are also several vegan options.

What’s extra special about D’s is that they will also accept Blazer Bucks – a sweet and very convenient gesture for those at UAB.
