BEBCO to The Battery: live music, brews, and fried chicken coming to 2nd Ave
Reading time: 3 minutes
The old Birmingham Electric Battery Co. building on 2nd Ave is being redeveloped into a cool new hangout. See the food, brews, and tunes you’re going to love here.
According to AL.com, construction has begun to redevelop the former Birmingham Electric Battery Co. into what will be called The Battery.
Mostly we’re just trying to preserve what’s here. So there’s not an extensive build-out that’s going to occur. There’s a lot of beauty hidden behind these old, nasty gray walls. It just needs a good bath and to be cleaned up a little bit.

SRS Real Estate Partners are developing the 30,000 sq. foot office + retail concept. Currently 6,000 sq. feet of office space is still waiting to be leased.
What else will this cool Birmingham hangout offer? A great location and some awesome tenants.
Get ready to feast
Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken will be opening its first Alabama location at The Battery.
Their fresh, never frozen, hormone-free chicken is fried in peanut oil and served with all the Southern sides.
This restaurant will be the perfect snack before and after an amazing show at the Syndicate Lounge.
Get ready to drink
Birmingham District Brewing Co. will also be opening its doors at The Battery to serve special craft beers. Give them a follow on insta to show some love.
Come thirsty, friends.
Sigh No More
We got a little worried when the new mixed-use development on 20th street left The Syndicate Lounge without a home.
But we’re thrilled for them to bring their tunes and brews to The Battery for Birmingham to enjoy again.
SRS has said that vendors could start moving in as early as March. As always, we’ll keep you updated on how the construction goes.
