Reading time: 3 minutes
The Huff Post, one of the largest digital news organizations in the nation, is visiting Birmingham today and tomorrow for its Listen to America Road Trip. The Magic City is the 5th community slated for a stopover on 25 city cross country tour.
Their first event is tonight at the 16th Street Baptist Church starting at 6:00.
Here are the details:
“Overcoming and Surviving Inner-City Violence”
HuffPost, in partnership with WBRC, presents a conversation with community leaders about continuing violence in Birmingham, and what’s working to combat it. The event will begin at 6 p.m. (doors at 5:30 p.m.) and is free and open to the public. It is part of HuffPost’s “Listen to America” bus tour—a 25-city tour devoted to listening to the concerns of people across the country.
WBRC Anchor Sarah Verser will be moderating the panel. Doors will be opening at 5:30 PM.
Second Event at Railroad Park
The second event is tomorrow, September 20th, 3:00-7:00 at Railroad Park.
Here is how the Listening Session will by conducted (from the Huff Post Facebook public invitation):
“Come visit the Huff Post bus at Railroad Park.
Stop by, tell a HuffPost producer what’s on your mind, and pick up some swag. We look forward to seeing you!
We want to know: What does it mean to be American today? To find out, we’re hitting the road this fall to interview people about their hopes, dreams, fears and definition of “being American.” By converting a tour bus into a mobile video studio, we’ll capture conversations with people of all ages and backgrounds. Our goal: moving, multimedia storytelling that showcases what we share as Americans, rather than what divides us.”
This is a great opportunity to share your ideas, concerns, hopes and dreams.
