Trust me, I know it is hot and humid right now. However, fall weather is right around the corner, and that means running outside will soon be bearable again!

If you need some extra motivation to put on your running shoes, then here’s five different Birmingham 5Ks to start training for now!

August 5th, 2017

Lupus 5K FITathlon Challenge

Time: 9am

Place: Sloss Furnaces

Cost: starts at $25

This race has three options: a 5K run/walk, the 5K FITathlon (includes various exercise challenges throughout the course), and a Sleep-In race that doesn’t begin until 10am!

August 11th, 2017

Warrior Color Run 5K in Birmingham!

5K Warrior Color Run

Time: 7pm

Place: Veterans Park in Alabaster

Cost: $40

This race benefits the Thompson High School and Middle School cheerleading program. There’s also a 1 mile Fun Color Run at 6pm for only $15!

Just a Call Away 5k in Birmingham

Just A Call Away 5K

Time: 8am

Place: Uptown Birmingham!

Cost: $3o, but price increases on August 12th.

This race benefits Crisis Center, Inc. It takes runners through Birmingham’s premier entertainment district. Plus, there’s a one mile fun run offered at 9am for $15!

Run for One 5K in Birmingham

R(un) for One 5K

Time: 8am

Place: Veteran’s Park (adjacent to Spain Park High School)

Cost: $30 until August 17th, $35 on race day

This race is put on by (Un)adopted Lifeline Children’s Services. There’s a Kids Fun R(un) at 8:45am for $15 or $20 on race day!

EAB Heart and Sole 5K 

Time: 8am

Place: 3773 W Jackson Blvd, Mountain Brook, AL 35213

Cost: starts at $20

This race supports Equal Access Birmingham. Equal Access Birmingham is a medical student run free clinic in downtown Birmingham that provides free health care and education to uninsured members of the Birmingham Community.
