According to the Birmingham Museum of Art, today is Albert Bierstadt’s 187th birthday. The BMA is home to Bierstadt’s stunningly beautiful painting, “Looking Down Yosemite Valley, California.”

Part of the permanent collection at the Museum, the painting is on a 64″ tall by 96 1/4″ wide canvas with a heavy walnut frame.

A national treasure, Bierstadt’s painting in Birmingham is a “must see” on every visit to the BMA.
