Summer Camp 2022

Alabama Wildlife Center 100 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL

If your child is curious about nature or likes spending time outdoors, AWC’s summer camp is the perfect way for them to enjoy summer vacation while learning about wildlife! We’ll have everything from bug collecting and plant identification to live raptor encounters. Summer camp will take place July 18th-22nd for 1st-3rd graders and July 25th-29th for 4th-6th graders. Camp will run from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm every day (we will be on site at 8:30 to begin check in each day, and pick-up will be from 3:30-4:00). Go Wild with AWC: Birding 101

Alabama Wildlife Center 100 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL

  Want to learn the basics of bird identification? Join AWC staff and volunteers for Birding 101! We’ll discuss common species of Alabama and how to identify them based on sight and sound, as well as how to use current technology to become a better birder. Bring your binoculars and meet in AWC’s observation room. This event will last around two hours and is free with paid admission to Oak Mountain State Park.

Go Wild with AWC: Lunch with Shelby

Alabama Wildlife Center 100 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL

Come spend your lunchtime with AWC’s education ambassador Bald Eagle, Shelby! Learn all about America’s national bird, including their biology, behaviors and current conservation status. You’ll also have an up-close chance to watch Shelby enjoy her lunch! We’ll meet at 12:00pm in front of Shelby’s enclosure, located directly beside our center. Event is free with paid admission to Oak Mountain State Park.

Go Wild with AWC: Treetop Hike

Alabama Wildlife Center 100 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL

Hawks, Owls and Vultures, oh my! Join AWC for an exciting and educational walk along Treetop Nature Trail! Come meet our permanent resident raptors that live along Treetop’s boardwalk and learn all about them and their unique species. This walk is also a great chance to practice plant identification and birding by ear! Meet at the OMSP Beach Access Parking Lot (just past the park office) at 11am. Limited handicapped parking is available. This interpretive walk is designed for all ages and will last one to two hours. Free event with admission to Oak Mountain State Park.
