Notes At STAIR we know that students in our community are struggling with literacy. Through one-on-one afterschool tutoring, we empower students with the tools to read better and dream bigger, because every child deserves to be reading on grade level.

Notes We have a rich legacy! You might remember us as Camp Fire Girls, (which is a key part of how our organizational journey began) but fast forward to 2020 where ALL youth are welcome at Camp Fire; we serve every kind of kid, from every kind of family, from every walk of life. Camp Fire Alabama believes in the inherent potential of every child; and that every child deserves the opportunity to realize that potential. We are committed to making the Camp Fire Alabama experience a positive, significant determinant in childhood and education, across central Alabama. In 2019, Camp Fire Alabama served over 13,500 children and youth. Over 78% of those were served in classrooms during school hours at the request of teachers, counselors and school administrators. School systems served include Bessemer, Birmingham, Hoover, Jefferson County and Shelby County. The vast majority of those served cannot afford the programs and services offered by Camp Fire Alabama.
