The Penny Foundation is proud to announce the return of The Penny Games: HBCU Debate + Esports Invitational, a multi-day experience designed to celebrate student talent and expand opportunity in Birmingham.
The Games bring together HBCU students from across the country, Birmingham high schoolers, and partners from colleges, employers, and civic organizations to showcase excellence and invest in the next generation.
Confirmed debate teams include Tennessee State, Alabama A&M, Bethune-Cookman, Howard, and Livingstone College. Community partners already on board include Protective Life, Brasfield & Gorrie, Jefferson County, Birmingham City Schools, HBCU Cares, The Alabama Collective, the City of Birmingham, Cxmmunity Media, and Miles College.
Esports Update: In partnership with Cxmmunity Media, esports competitions will be held virtually in advance, with the finalists celebrated in Birmingham during the in-person experience.

October 3 – Leadership Breakfast + Debate Championship at BJCC
