Yonder Walls Mural Festival

October 17, 2026 @ 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Yonder Walls Mural Festival

A bold new celebration of public art is making its debut in the Magic City. The inaugural Yonder Walls Mural Festival will bring more than 25 new murals to life on October 17, 2026 at Urban Supply in Birmingham’s Parkside District, showcasing artistic talent across Alabama and beyond.

Founded by local muralists Sean Gilder and the team behind Bendy Knees Design Co., Jordan Thompson and Levi Levinson, Yonder Walls Mural Festival was created to spotlight Alabama’s artistic talent and create meaningful opportunities for local creatives. Others serving on Yonder Wall’s board include Hunter Renfroe, a local developer; Lydia Walker, school and community manager at the Birmingham Museum of Art and local artist; and Erica Chisolm, senior urban designer for the City of Birmingham and local artist.

“We [Bendy Knees Design Co.] have spent the last four years on a mural festival committee out of Oklahoma City, so we’ve experienced first-hand what a festival at this scale can do for a community,” stated Levi Levinson, Co-Director of Yonder Walls Mural Festival. “Too often, life-changing artistic opportunities go to artists from outside the state,” Levinson continued. “We want to elevate the talent that’s already here.”

Free and open to the public, the festival will take place from 12pm to 8pm at Urban Supply, a walkable outdoor entertainment district near Regions Field. In the week leading up to the event, selected artists will work on-site to create large-scale muralsthroughout the development, culminating in a full day of celebration and community engagement on Saturday, October 17.

On the day of the event, attendees can watch artists put the finishing touches on their murals while enjoying a full lineup of performances and activities. The festival will feature musicians and performers, alongside local food trucks and vendors. Organizers are also partnering with area conservancies to highlight endangered species native to Alabama, further connecting art with community awareness.

Leading up to the festival, the organization will host monthly creative meetups, workshops, and panel discussions designed to foster collaboration and professional development among Birmingham-area artists.

“If you look at cities that are thriving culturally, they make a deliberate effort to support public art and give artists space to leave their mark. Birmingham is already known for food, music, medicine, and tech; Yonder Walls is about making sure public art is part of that same momentum,” stated Sean Gilder, Co-Director of Yonder Walls Mural Festival.

For those interested in getting involved, artist application dates will be announced on their Instagram, and you can find volunteer applications on their website. If you’d like to help support the festival, donations can be made on the website, helping bring more color, creativity, and community to Birmingham.
