Kid One Transport will host its 13th annual Trick or Trot 5k Halloween costume race on October 24, 2026 at Back Forty Birmingham. Trick or Trot is a road race that will take place in downtown Birmingham, Alabama through the streets of the Lakeview District. This 5k is Kid One’s principal Fall fundraising event and aims to raise funds to continue providing much needed healthcare transportation services for children throughout Alabama.

The cost of gas prices and vehicle insurance soar alongside Kid One’s service demand, making Trick or Trot’s fundraising efforts integral for the 2027 service year. All proceeds from Trick or Trot enable Kid One to serve the most vulnerable families in Alabama across 35+ service counties. Trick or Trot will feature a family-friendly environment, with runners of all ages and experience levels encouraged to participate. Awards will be given to top race finishers as well as group and individual costume contest winners. Games and activities will also be featured.

“Trick or Trot 5k is a great way for families to get in the Halloween spirit. For Kid One, the event is so special because it combines two foundational pillars of our mission: transportation and community support,” said Kaylie Rastegar, External Relations Coordinator at Kid One Transport.

In 2025, Kid One traveled over 433,000 miles and provided nearly 16,000 transports to medical and mental health appointments around the state.

Members of the community can help Kid One continue their mission to the health of Alabama’s children by attending Trick or Trot 5k. Visit www.kidone.org and click “Trick or Trot 5k” to sign up.
