 ‘Take Back the Day’ Free Concert to Honor 25th Anniversary of Sept. 11 and Support Local Veterans

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. — The Trussville community will come together Sept. 11 for “Take Back the Day,” a free community concert honoring the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, remembering those who lost their lives and supporting local veterans.

The concert, organized by award-winning Elvis tribute artist Robert J. “Rob” Langford Jr. and Post 205 2nd Vice Commander, will begin at 6 p.m. at Ferus Artisan Ales, 101 Beech St., Suite 111, Trussville, Alabama. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and arrive early for the best seating.

While admission to the Take Back the Day concert is free, donations will be accepted to benefit the American Legion SSG Michael Hosey Post 205 in Clay. The Post serves veterans and their families in the Trussville-Clay Alabama area.

“Take Back the Day is about coming together as a community to honor, remember and support,” Langford said. “We want to remember the heroes of Sept. 11, honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and show our local veterans that their service and sacrifices have not been forgotten.”

The concert will feature performances by:

• Kim Harmon, award-winning Aretha Franklin tribute artist
• Rob Langford, award-winning Elvis tribute artist
• Terry Padgett, award-winning Elvis tribute artist
• Minor Adjustment, special guest musical act

Harmon and Langford previously served as headliners for “Take the Day Back,” a 9/11 concert organized the past two years by Birmingham PR professional Roy Williams to raise money for a bronze bust honoring his oldest brother, Army Maj. Dwayne Williams, who was killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.

The bronze bust of Maj. Williams was dedicated and unveiled on Memorial Day 2026 at the Alabama Fallen Warriors Monument in Trussville. American Legian Post 205 was Roy’s nonprofit partner on both events.

“Having performed at Roy’s Take the Day Back concert and seeing the meaning behind the memorial to his brother, I understand how powerful it is when music and community come together for a purpose,” Langford said. “This year, we are taking that spirit a step further by using the concert to support veterans here at home in the Trussville area.”

Supporting American Legion Post 205

Donations will help the post continue its work supporting local veterans, military families, youth programs and community initiatives. Official event T-shirts and other merchandise also will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the post.

Community members can help by attending the concert, inviting family and friends, purchasing event merchandise, making a donation and sharing information about the event on social media.

“Every person who attends, makes a donation, purchases merchandise or simply shares the event helps us make a difference,” Langford said. “We want to fill the Trussville Entertainment District and create an evening that is meaningful, patriotic and fun for the entire community.”
