Samford Legacy League’s Fall Luncheon featuring Sophie Hudson

Kicking off a yearlong 100th anniversary celebration, Samford University Legacy League will feature Birmingham’s own Sophie Hudson at its annual Fall Luncheon on Thursday, September 25. Known as “Boo Mama” to her podcast audience, Sophie is the author of seven books, including her most recent title, A Fine Sight to See: Leading Because You Were Made for It. Sophie serves up a unique combination of humor, enthusiasm and spiritual insight to audiences across the country and has co-hosted The Big Boo Cast since 2007. She enjoys “laughing until she cries, cheering like crazy during college football games and hanging out with her people (preferably while wearing pajama pants).”

Legacy League’s Fall Luncheon, an annual event which is open to the public, holds special meaning in 2025. Launching the organization’s centennial year, the event will include a look back at the Legacy League’s first century of service, a student testimonial, recognition of 2024-25 volunteers and board members, and the presentation of the 2025 Lolla Wright Award to Kimeran Stevens. To date, the Legacy League has awarded over $2.1 million in scholarships to assist students who have faced obstacles including homelessness, inner city violence, death or disability of a parent, abandonment, parental addiction and incarceration and the sacrifices of full-time ministry. In addition to providing generous scholarships, the organization provides extra measures of support and practical assistance for the 25 students in its cohort.
