OPOSSUM TO PREDICT WEATHER THIS SUNDAY AT 10 A.M. IN HONOR OF GROUNDHOG DAY

Your Birmingham Zoo will be celebrating Groundhog Day a day earlier and with some help from a Virginia opossum.

Instead of waking up our Birmingham Bill groundhog at the Birmingham Zoo, he is going to sleep in, plus you really don’t want to wake up a sleeping groundhog. Instead, Birmingham Jill, a Virginia opossum, is going to make the weather prediction. This will happen at 10 a.m. in the Birmingham Zoo’s plaza on Sunday, Feb. 1. Here is for an early spring! This event is included with admission to your Birmingham Zoo.

Come enjoy the Birmingham Zoo’s twist on a fun tradition. Photos with Birmingham Jill will be available after the forecast and the keeper chat.  The Zoo is closed on Monday, the actual Groundhog Day.
