Mom’s Basement Cleanup Series – October 25
- When: Saturday, October 25th 2025 from 9 am to 3 pm

- Availability: We have room for 22 volunteers in CRS boats. Participants are welcome to bring their own craft. Please email volunteer@cahabariversociety.org if you plan to bring your own boat.
What to expect:
This is a paddling cleanup in canoes.
We’ll meet at the Old Overton Cahaba Blueway access where we’ll pass out gear and select paddling partners. From there, drivers will follow the CRS truck and trailer to the Highway 280 Cahaba Blueway access to leave vehicles where the trip will end. We’ll then carpool back to Old Overton in one or two vehicles to begin the paddle trip. This process will take 30-40 minutes, and more details will be shared at the meeting location. For more information on the stretches of the Cahaba check out the Cahaba Blueway. River segment is dependent on weather and water level.
CRS will provide canoes, paddles, life jackets, grabbers, bags, and gloves. There is no charge for this trip. Folks are absolutely welcome and encouraged to head to the CRS website for donations to offset program costs to CRS.
After every Mom’s Basement Cleanup there will be an afterparty at Mom’s Basement with drink specials and prize giveaways for each participant! Details will be given at the cleanup.
What to bring:
- Water (at least 1 liter)
- Lunch
- Sunscreen
- Sun hat
- Close-toed shoes
You are welcome to bring a cooler for your water and lunch, but alcohol is prohibited.
