Little Hammies Kids Adventure Race
A one-of-a-kind kids adventure where your child will 🚲 RIDE 🏃 RUN 🧗 CLIMB and 💦 SPLASH through an action-packed experience on their feet, on their bike, and alongside their best friend. This challenging 3 mile course is for ages 6-14.
Grab a friend and complete this adventure together!
What does the schedule of events look like?
Friday: Oct 16th – Run/Ride Night Time Duathlon (half mile to 1 mile total)
4:30PM get a sneak preview of the course, test obstacles and get prepared to race!
5:00PM – Packet Pick Up begins for Race Day
6:00PM. –A Run/Ride Under the lights! Kids will run a short loop with natural obstacles and then grab their bikes and do a similar loop to complete the race! Think, traditional Little Hammies bike race, with a short running element. Individual competition.
7:00PM – Awards on the Discover Shelby Stage
Saturday: Oct 17th – Adventure Race!
9:00AM – Registration/Check In Opens
10:00 AM – First Wave of racers takes off (Oldest First)
1:00PM – Awards Ceremony + Food Truck Fun
How to sign up?
Parents will register each athlete separately. Then we will pair them based on the team name you enter. Enter the same team name on both registrations, and we’ll pair them together on our end. Later your will receive a confirmation of the category they are racing.
$49 per athlete ($98 per team)
Where is the race happening?
Heardmont Park – 5458 Cahaba Valley Rd
Birmingham, AL 3524
This park offers tons of natural beauty and nearby amenities. It’s the perfect location for parents to see almost 100% of the action while kids feel surrounded by flowing water, exposed rocks, big bridges and woods!
What challenges will my child expect on the course?
Natural challenges such as harnessed rock climbing, free bouldering, wading through creeks, bridge crossings, rooty mountain bike trails and more!
How long will the race take?
Average times are expected to take 1 hour to complete. There will be waves of racers on the course starting at 10AM on Saturday.
Who Should Attend?
This event is for ages 6-14 because of the distance and challenges along the way.
How are age categories determined?
The oldest teammate’s age on race day determines the age group you race in. Example, 6 and 9 year old are partnered together, they will race in the 8-9 category.

What does my child need to compete.
Here’s the BARE Minimum Gear List for each racer:
– Properly fitting bike
– Helmet
– comfortable athletic or water proof shoes (no open toes)
– Water Bottle
Nice to have:
Back Pack
Bike Gloves
Their own first aid kit
What if I cant find a partner?
We will allow single entries but will pair you with a similar age racer on the week before the race to complete the race with!
