Excelsior Band Live at the Carver Theatre
Join the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame at the Carver Theatre for our Sunday series, Jazz on 4th! We’re thrilled to welcome Excelsior Band, for a captivating live jazz performance.
The Excelsior Band® carries a rich and colorful legacy deeply rooted in the traditions of Carnival, Mobile, and the Gulf Coast. Founded in 1883 by John A. Pope to celebrate the birth of his son, the band has been a vibrant part of Mobile’s musical culture for more than a century. Based in the birthplace of Mardi Gras in the United States, the Excelsior Band® is widely recognized as a cultural ambassador for the City of Mobile. The band is especially known for its spirited performances during Mardi Gras, where it often leads the city’s iconic parades.
