Birding at Flying Creek Nature Preserve, Fairhope (Free!)

Flying Creek Nature Preserve is a 108-acre parcel of land between Veterans Boulevard and Fly Creek that boasts a diverse forest and riparian ecosystem. We will start our loop of the park, traversing the creekside outer trail that attracts species like vireos, warblers, and thrush. We will cut through a portion of the pinewood forest en route to the bird blind area and this portion of the property is typically more quite for birds but woodpeckers and warblers can be seen moving through. Once we reach the bird blind area the forest opens up into a prescribed burn area with great edge habitat that holds pileated woodpecker, warblers, buntings, and more.
