Big Sit at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve (Free!)
Join Alabama Audubon at one of North Alabama’s best songbird migration hotspots for a Big Sit around the legendary water features this August at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve near Huntsville. During summer and fall, many songbirds seek water on their journeys to their wintering grounds, and Chapman Mountain has one of the best water features for birding in the entire state!
Program Coordinator Andrew Lydeard will gather with participants around the water feature to observe the birds that come to bathe, drink, and cool off. We may also take short out-and-backs around the property to see if we can find other migratory birds in the area.
