The Birmingham Museum of Art welcomes all visitors to its annual African Heritage Festival, a joyful, family-friendly celebration of African and African diasporic cultures. The festival features a vibrant mix of art, music, dance, and community activities.

Festival Activities:

• Live Performances:

  • DRUM the Program (West African drumming and dance)

    • 1:15 PM & 2:30 PM | Café

  • Carib Sounds Steel Band (Caribbean steel drum music)

    • 1:45 PM & 3:00 PM | Sculpture Garden

• Creative Activities:

  • Make your own drums

  • Face painting by local artists including Yogi Dada

  • Explore the African art galleries

• Community Engagement:

  • Meet and connect with organizations such as the Central Alabama Caribbean American Organization (CACAO) and others to learn about their cultural work.
