African Heritage Festival

Join us to celebrate the vibrant traditions of African cultures and the Museum’s African art galleries with our annual African Heritage Festival, sponsored by Medical Properties Trust with support from Blue Cross Blue Shield. The festival will feature art making, performances, face painting, and a focus on the BMA’s African art collection. Representatives from the Central Alabama Caribbean American Organization will also be at the festival to share more about their work within the Birmingham community.

1:00–4:00 PM – Face Painting with Yogi Dada in 2nd Floor Bow

1:00–5:00 PM – Art Activities in 8th Avenue Lobby, Face Painting with Painted Personalities in 2nd Floor Nook, and the CACAO Community Table in the Café

1:15–1:45 PM – Performance by DRUM the Program in the Café

1:45–2:30 PM – Performance by Carib Sounds Steel Band in the Sculpture Garden

2:30–3:00 PM – Second Performance by DRUM the Program in the Café

3:00–3:45 PM – Second Performance by Carib Sounds Steel Band in the Sculpture Garden
