Gas prices have held fairly steady over the past month, though they’re still running well above where they were a year ago. Here’s how Birmingham and Alabama compare, plus where to find the cheapest gas in town.
Birmingham gas prices average $3.78 a gallon
Birmingham’s current average price per gallon of regular gas is $3.7779 as of Thursday, September 3, according to AAA.
Here are the average prices for a gallon of gas in the Birmingham metro area.

Alabama gas prices average $3.80 a gallon
Statewide, Alabama’s average is running slightly higher than Birmingham’s at $3.7971 a gallon for regular.
