If you have been driving around 7th Avenue South and 32nd Street in Birmingham’s Lakeview District, you’ve likely experienced some lanes closed off and some detours. The reason for all the earth moving and construction?
Brasfield & Gorrie has begun in earnest another major expansion of their headquarters in The Magic City.
Over the next few years, the beloved Birmingham-based company, which is one of the largest general contractors in the U.S., will invest $65 million to add an 88,000 sq. ft. four-story office building.
The new building will be used for training — both for Brasfield & Gorrie employees and their partners.
In addition to increasing the size of its Lakeview campus, the company will also add 80 new full-time positions with an average salary of $82,000.
“Birmingham has been home to this company for over 60 years, and that’s not something we take lightly. We’re investing in this city’s future by expanding our workforce, growing our footprint and putting our resources where our roots are. We want Brasfield & Gorrie to be the place where talented people come to build something real, and we’re giving them the space, the tools and the environment to do it.”

This is Brasfield & Gorrie’s second major expansion in Lakeview this decade. Last year, the company finished constructing a three-story, 28,500 sq. ft. building adjacent to their 3021 7th Ave. S. headquarters.
The current project is expected to be completed in early 2028.
