In a city like Birmingham that is bursting at the seams with artistic talent, there is always something to see.
Here are six shows to put on your calendar for this month, plus a few others to plan for in June.

Encore Theatre and Gallery: 12 Angry Jurors
- When: May 14-17
- What to expect: Staged in the round at Encore Theatre and Gallery, twelve jurors deliberate a case that seems open and shut—until one juror begins to ask difficult questions.

BJCC: & Juliet presented by Broadway in Birmingham
- When: May 19-24
- What to expect: & Juliet takes a funny spin on the famous “Romeo & Juliet.” In this musical, Juliet ditches the famous ending for a fresh beginning and a second chance at life and love—reimagining iconic pop songs along the way.

Homewood Theatre: Working the Musical
- When: May 28-June 7
- What to expect: Based on the book by Studs Terkel, “Working” paints a portrait of the American working class often taken for granted: the teacher, the waitress, the millworker + the housewife, just to name a few.

Alabama Ballet presents Unbound: Serenade and Carmina Burana with Alabama Symphony Orchestra

ASO presents: Masterworks Series: Beyond the Forest, Into the Sky
- When: May 15-16 | 7PM
- What to expect: Alabama Symphony Orchestra is at the Alys Stephens Center to perform the final pages of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, the beauty of Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral + the intensity of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40.—don’t miss it!

Symphony in the Summer
- What: Your Memorial Day Weekend is set with one of the city’s most beloved events: Symphony in the Summer. The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will perform three nights of free, live music at Railroad Park, from classical favorites to Broadway medleys and patriotic hits. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic and enjoy the show with family and friends.
