Dutch Bros opens first coffee joint in Birmingham-metro area

Dutch Bros, the nationally popular coffee drive-thru with a cult-like following, has opened in Alabaster.

The much-anticipated location at 544 1st Street N is the first in the Birmingham-metro area and eighth statewide.

The new location is near Baptist Health Shelby Hospital and retailers like Jimmy John’s, Taziki’s and Arby’s.

Founded in 1992, Dutch Bros has grown from a single pushcart to more than 1,000 locations employing 17,000+ people in over 20 U.S. states and territories.

Dutch Bros has been expanding rapidly throughout Alabama since 2023. The other locations are in Huntsville (3), Prattville, Florence, Auburn and Decatur.
