There is a new hangout in Mountain Brook Village, and it’s all about great food, cold drinks and a classic “come as you are” atmosphere. Woody’s Food + Bar has officially opened its doors, and we got the scoop on what you can expect from this new local restaurant.

The vision behind Woody’s

Owner Jason Parkman, a long-time Mountain Brook resident and restaurant industry veteran, wanted to create a space that feels like a community gathering space.

“We decided to open up this place because we need a good community atmosphere on this side of town.

“We want you to feel relaxed and welcome to come in here and chill out, forget everything that’s happened to you that day, and just let us try and take care of you.”

Parkman brings a wealth of experience to the table. He started running a food truck back in 2009, and he went on to franchise with Taziki’s. His philosophy is all about a hospitality mindset with a servant’s heart.

A glimpse at Woody’s menu

Parkman is focusing on “good bar food” that is flavorful, fresh and fast. Here are a few must-try items:

The Vato Burger: A blend of chuck and chorizo topped with fresh jalapeños, queso dip, pickled red onions, cilantro + a house-made smoky mustard cream sauce.
The Killer Steak-a-dilla: A fan favorite returning from Parkman’s food truck days. It features steak, a sweet tomato chutney, onions, red bell peppers + Monterey Jack cheese.
Club Woody’s: A classic club sandwich stacked with bacon, ham, turkey + Japanese mayo.
The Wedge Salad: Topped with fromage bleu cheese dressing, bacon + roasted cherry tomatoes.
The Pickled Hammy: Swiss cheese + ham on a Hawaiian roll with plenty of pickles + pickled red onions.

The vibe

Located in the space formerly home to Surf-Hound, Carrigan’s and DRAM, the restaurant has been revitalized to serve as a hub for the community. Whether you’re looking to catch a game on one of their TVs or just want to enjoy a drink on the patio, Woody’s is set up for it.

Coming soon, there will be trivia nights on Tuesdays and plenty of live entertainment.
