There’s a new spot for your morning caffeine run in Five Points South: Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee is now open inside the Cortland Vesta apartments at 2173 Highland Ave.

The shop has been operating in a soft-opening phase for about a month and is planning its official grand opening in mid-May, according to manager Kerrick Jordan, a Birmingham native and City Schools graduate.

Land of a Thousand Hills coffee comes to Birmingham

Currently, the coffee shop is open Monday through Saturday from 7AM to 3PM, with plans to expand hours soon.

“We’re super excited about potentially opening on Sunday as well. Once we have our grand opening, we’ll be adding lunch items and extending our hours to around 5 or 6PM.”

Beyond coffee, Jordan says the shop aims to stand out through both quality and mission.

Land of a Thousand Hills sources coffee through direct relationships with farmers in Rwanda, supporting fair wages and community development initiatives including schools and infrastructure. It currently operates more than a dozen coffee shops across the U.S. in states like Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Utah.

The brand also hopes to become a gathering place for the neighborhood and support local Birmingham businesses and organizations.

Whether you’re near Highland Park or Five Points South for your daily latte or just looking to check out Birmingham’s newest neighborhood coffee shop, Land of a Thousand Hills is officially on the radar.
