New public library now open in Adamsville
Reading time: 2 minutes

Adamsville has a brand new public library, which is now open for residents to explore and enjoy.
The former library at 4823 Main Street was closed Friday, March 20, as the transition to the new space took place. It was much smaller than the new, modernized building at 3500 Main Street, which is across from city hall and next to the police department.
The Adamsville Public Library is a member of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative, which allows residents of Jefferson County to access services at all 40 libraries with one card. Some of these services include:
- Research tools + databases
- Interlibrary loans (borrowing books from any library in the county)
- HomeworkAlabama.org, a one-to-one homework help + test prep service
- Access to Libby, an app that allows digital book + audiobook borrowing
- Career resources
The new Adamsville Public Library is open just in time for National Library Week, which is April 19-25. The annual celebration is hosted by the American Library Association to highlight the role libraries play in strengthening communities. This year’s theme is “Find Your Joy.”
