Traveling through Shelby County on US-280 this coming Saturday? You may want to look at some potential alternate routes.

According to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), beginning at 7:00AM on Saturday, April 18, weather permitting, segments of US-280 eastbound and westbound will be closed at the Highland Lakes Drive intersection.

For motorists who go by local landmarks, this is between the Village at Lee Branch and Valley Post/Dunnavant Valley Road.

ALDOT is making asphalt patching repairs up until 4:00PM.

The good news. Only one lane will be closed at a time in either direction.

Do expect delays throughout the day, so if you are moving south taking your kids to a soccer game and the new Valley Post or moving north toward Brook Highland and The Summit from Chelsea, add some extra time.

Also, use extreme caution in the work zones. For additional road closure information, visit algotraffic.com.
