Painted Tree Boutiques, a boutique mall on US-280 that housed 200+ vendors, announced Tuesday, April 14 that it will close 60+ of its stores nationwide, effective immediately.

Located between Academy Sports and Marshalls in the River Ridge Shopping Center at 4612 US-280, the unique store called itself an “Etsy marketplace and Pinterest catalog come to life.” It started in 2015 as a vintage market in Arkansas before expanding across the country.

Birmingham’s Painted Tree location had only been open since September 2025. It was Alabama’s only location.

Shop owners who were already packing up their spaces told Bham Now that they found out about the closure just this morning. They have now until Friday, April 24 to vacate their booths.

“We understand the impact this has on you and your business, and we are truly sorry. We know many of you have invested significant time, energy and resources into building your spaces at Painted Tree, and this is not the outcome any of us hoped for.”

While she says news of the closure came “out of the blue through an email,” she appreciates the opportunities she had to grow her business and make connections.

“Like every other vendor I have spoken with, I was surprised to receive this news today…

“Of course, a sudden closure like this impacts my business, especially in terms of visibility and sales. But as a multi-passionate artist and small business owner, resilience and adaptability are at the heart of what I do.”
