The average salary in Alabama might be a little more than $50,000, but a University of Montevallo grad is taking home the average American salary of $67,920 after winning big on a game show.

Sipsey native Nick Norris appeared on the fifth episode of “The Greatest Average American,” a new game show on ABC and Hulu that “celebrates the power of being perfectly average,” according to the network.

Norris, an English teacher at Jasper High School, represented Alabama well with his average trivia knowledge, which is designed to prove who is the most average American.

The year’s-salary winnings will come in handy as Norris and his fiancé plan their upcoming wedding.
