There are a lot of reasons to shop vintage: it’s unique, sustainable, affordable and frankly—they just don’t make clothing the same anymore!

In Birmingham, there’s a thriving scene of vintage shopping and weekend pop-ups featuring dozens of local vendors. Read on for four of our favorites, and where to find them.

1. Mom’s Vintage Market

Set up in the parking lot next to The Electric and Bruto in Avondale, this monthly market is one of the biggest in town.

Typically scheduled the first Saturday of the month, the market hosts tons of vendors—local and beyond. You can expect a wide price range across items, a plethora of men and women’s vintage and hidden gems in every booth.

For a more curated, boutique vintage experience, look no further than nan.curated: a monthly pop-up hosted by McCall Harwell at Zephyr Barber in downtown Birmingham.

At these monthly pop-ups, Zephyr transforms into an epic showroom for fashionable and trendy girls about town to shop vintage and designer clothing, shoes and accessories. Brands range from vintage staples like Liz Claiborne and Ralph Lauren to designer items from Chloe, Prada and Jacquemus..

3. Vintage & Coffee

If you like starting your morning with caffeine and shopping, this one is for you (and I relate). Vintage & Coffee is a pop-up series hosted by Collected Vintage across a variety of Birmingham coffee shops—past locations include Whammy, Daysol and Bandido.

Pop-ups typically start Saturday mornings at 9AM with a wide variety of men’s and women’s vintage. However, the next event will be their first all women’s spring vintage edit with lightweight layers, soft tones and one-of-one dresses hosted at House Eleven.

4. My Homies Vintage Market

Another local market to watch out for is My Homies Vintage Market, which hosts pop-ups at a wide variety of locations and times including an upcoming night market at Up Down in Parkside. That means if the early morning shopping isn’t your style, you’ll still get the chance for dibs on curated vintage, art, handmade goods, vinyls, streetwear and collectibles.

My Homies pop-ups often come with a bonus, too—expect everything from food trucks to DJs and flash tattoos.
