New European-inspired pub is coming to Pepper Place this summer
Reading time: 3 minutes

A new restaurant is set to open in one of Birmingham’s most recognizable food spaces.
This summer, The Harrington Pub will take over the former home of The Lumbar in Pepper Place—bringing a European pub-inspired concept with Southern ingredients to the heart of the district.
With a focus on approachable food, strong drinks and a welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant aims to become a go-to neighborhood spot for everything from lunch to late-night hangs.
A European-style pub with Southern ingredients
The Harrington Pub will serve European pub-inspired food with influences from across the UK and the continent, while still highlighting ingredients from the South.
The team describes their new restaurant as a “sister, but not twin” of their original spot, The Anvil in Lee Branch.
The menu will feature classic pub dishes with a dynamic twist, offering comforting staples alongside rotating specials that use locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce.
Designed to be an all-day hangout
The Harrington Pub will serve guests throughout the day—from early morning through late evening.
Here’s what guests can expect:
- Market Morings at Pepper Place
- A small grab-and-go breakfast menu will be available, perfect for folks heading to work or exploring Pepper Place.
- Lunch
- The full lunch menu begins late morning with pub fare.
- Happy Hour
- The restaurant plans to offer daily happy hour specials with discounted drinks and menu items.
- Dinner + Late Night
- The Anvil will stay open every night until 11PM, creating another late-evening option in the Pepper Place area.
The Harrington Pub will offer a strong beer + wine program in Birmingham
Drinks will play a big role in the restaurant’s identity.
The Harrington Pub plans to feature:
- A wide European beer selection on tap
- A curated wine program
- A full cocktail menu
Outdoor seating will also be part of the experience, giving guests a relaxed place to enjoy drinks and dinner in the district.
Because Pepper Place is located in an entertainment district, the restaurant will offer cocktails and beer to go, making it easy to grab a drink while exploring shops and more.
A home for soccer fans
Sports fans—especially soccer fans—will want to keep The Harrington Pub on their radar.
The restaurant will lean into European football culture, including hosting watch parties and partnering with Birmingham’s hometown club, Birmingham Legion FC.
The team hopes the space becomes a gathering spot for fans during matches, with potential events and team appearances in the future.
A welcoming neighborhood spot
While the restaurant will bring elevated flavors and thoughtful drinks to the table, the goal isn’t to create a formal dining experience. Instead, The Harrington Pub is designed to be approachable.
“We want to be a place that’s welcoming—whether you want to stop by after work for dinner, grab a quick lunch, or have a fun date night, we want this to be a place people feel comfortable coming to.”
Trenton Tisdale, Head Chef, The Harrington Pub
For Birmingham food lovers, it’s another exciting addition to Pepper Place’s growing restaurant scene and we are so excited for it to open this summer.
