New restaurant The Mustard Club now open in Pepper Place
Reading time: 2 minutes

At long last, the sandwich shop planned to take the place of BLUEROOT in Pepper Place is now open for business.
The Mustard Club features “a lunch-focused menu with thoughtful ingredients and a relaxed neighborhood feel,” the restaurant said.
Here is everything you need to know about the new eatery.
Transformation from BLUEROOT

BLUEROOT, which was founded in 2019, announced back in September 2025 that it would close to transform into a neighborhood café.
The restaurant was known for its quick, nutritional meal options, and operated a pop-up takeout window in Mountain Brook Village and a full-service restaurant in Pepper Place, according to Bham Wiki.
Chef Chris Newsome and Anna Newsome are the owners of The Mustard Club. They are the husband-wife duo behind Ollie Irene, a Mountain Brook gastropub that closed in 2021.
A diverse menu + a new vision

While The Mustard Club serves a select few of menu items, the offerings are diverse and vibrant. Menu items include:
- Sandwiches
- Small plates
- Salads
- Coffee
- Spritzes
- Wines
- Beers
The current menu features a note from the owners thanking its new patrons for supporting the restaurant:
“New beginnings take time. Please understand that we are starting slowly and will grow our menu offerings and business hours as we develop our team, routine and confidence. Thank you for joining us on this adventure!”
