US-280 all-lane closure at Pump House Road to take place for 3 days
Reading time: 2 minutes

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced another total closure of US-280 as Mountain Brook’s Pump House Road bridge is demolished.
Here is what commuters need to know:
- Friday, March 20 at 11PM, crews will close all US-280 lanes, both westbound and eastbound
- Eastbound lanes (toward The Summit) will remain closed until Monday, March 22
- Westbound lanes (toward downtown Birmingham) will reopen each morning at 5AM before closing again at 11PM
- Monday, March 22, all lanes will reopen no later than 6AM

ALDOT recommends the following detours, as pictured in the image above:
- Eastbound: Lakeshore Parkway to I-65, to I-459, to US-280
- Westbound: The same route in reverse order

“ALDOT wants to thank the public for their patience during this widening effort which will greatly increase US-280 capacity when complete this fall.”

This is the second complete closure of US-280 for the Pump House Road construction project, and ALDOT said to expect one more weekend of road closures after March 22.
