Irondale is getting a new multifamily residential community, The Current at Grants Mill, which will have 330 residences.

Construction recently began, and the entire project is expected to wrap up in 2027.

On the 48-acre property located at 1951 Grants Mill Road, there will be several living options for future residents, ranging from 1-to-3 bedroom floor plans:

  • Garden-style apartments
  • Townhomes
  • Carriage houses
  • Cottage-style homes

The focus of the community, according to contractors Capstone Building Corp. and developer StoneRiver Company, is to provide high-class living with a resort-inspired amenity package.

“We are excited to bring this amenity-rich community to life. Its unique layout and elevated finishes will create a welcoming environment that truly stands out.”

Brandon Loyd, President of Capstone Building Corp.

Among those amenities are:

  • A modern clubhouse with coworking, gathering + social spaces
  • A dedicated fitness center
  • Two resort-style pools
  • Outdoor courtyards with fire pits, a fireplace + grilling stations
  • A central games lawn
  • Dog park + dog spa
  • Car washing bay
  • Outdoor fitness offerings
  • Garage parking + access-controlled gates

More housing is bound to appear in Irondale as the community continues to grow.

Last year, the city announced that Costco, one of the nation’s largest retailers, would open Spring 2028, representing the most significant economic development in the city since the creation of the Irondale Luxury Automall.

The Costco project alone will bring immense economic growth to Irondale:

  • $105 million projected investment
  • $70 million in potential performance-based incentives from Costco
  • 200-300 new jobs
  • $6 million to $8 million per year in new sales tax revenue
