Two popular fast-and-casual restaurants have made their way to Pell City, giving locals even more options for dining.

Olive Garden opened Monday, March 9, and LongHorn Steakhouse will open Monday, March 16.

Here is what you need to know.

Olive Garden now open

Owned by Orlando-based Darden Restaurants Company, the new Olive Garden location broke ground almost exactly a year ago, the St. Clair Times reported.

“This new Olive Garden is another sign of the positive growth happening in Pell City. We’re proud to welcome a nationally recognized brand that sees the value in our community.

“Projects like this and other recent projects are possible because of the partnerships between the city, the county, our developers and the businesses choosing to invest here.”

Mayor Bill Pruitt

The restaurant is raising funds for Pell City’s “Backpack Buddies,” a national, volunteer-driven program that provides meals and snacks to school age children. The Pell City Olive Garden’s weekend alcohol sales will serve as a fundraiser for that program, according to general manager Joe Jackson and the St. Clair Times.

These aren’t the only new chains to call Pell City home.

In April 2025, Outback Steakhouse opened in Pell City Square, and before that, Whataburger opened in the same complex. Back when they were first announced in May 2024, the city estimated that the two restaurants would add about $3 million in annual taxable income to the local economy.

Pell City Square Shopping Center broke ground in September 2022 and opened August 2023, leading the way for many major retailers to come to Pell City, including:

  • Rack Room Shoes
  • Old Navy
  • Ulta Beauty
  • America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses
  • Ross Dress for Less
  • Hobby Lobby
  • PetSmart
  • Five Below
  • TJ Maxx
