Mobile’s glorious azaleas set the stage for this season. They’ve thrived since their arrival during the colonial period and truly took off in the 1930s and ’40s when the city established its Azalea Trail.

The perfect timing to see them is in mid-March, when the blooms are at their peak. This is also when the Mobile Home & Garden Show fills the convention center with oodles of design inspiration you can bring back to your own homes and gardens.

2. Good-as-gold getaway for St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is always quite the occasion in Mobile with a parade and street party on the actual day, which falls on a Tuesday this year. That’s an excellent reason to make it a longer trip to experience the city’s vast canvas of things to do over the weekend leading up to the celebrations.

☘️ Arrive on Friday for LoDa ArtWalk downtown, a local favorite monthly event celebrating art, music, food + culture downtown.
☘️ Callaghan’s Irish Social Club will host its 80th annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on Saturday. March 14, and Tuesday, March 17.
☘️ The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set for 11AM on Tuesday, March 17, starting at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
