La Fête, the French Bistro in downtown Birmingham, has the best French cuisine in Alabama, according to the popular national foodie website Tasting Table.

Located at 2018 Morris Avenue, the restaurant has been on a roll over the past few months.

Last month, La Fête’s owner and chef Kristen Hall earned a 2026 James Beard nomination for Best Chef: South. Back in November 2025, the eatery was given Bib Gourmand status in the first MICHELIN Guide American South restaurants edition.

In a recent interview with Bham Now, Hall told us she is striving to make La Fête give off a “you’re family” vibe.

“My vision for La Fête was a neighborhood bistro inspired by French cuisine and techniques. I really wanted La Fête to have those warm, cozy, ‘when you’re here, you’re family’ vibes. The overall goal is that I wanted La Fête to be a restaurant of regulars. I think it’s become that.”
