One of Alabama’s largest credit unions is taking another step to expand its business in Birmingham.

AmFirst, a federally-chartered community credit union, purchased a recently renovated office building located at 110 12th St. N., three blocks from its corporate headquarters at 1200 4th Avenue N.

The longstanding headquarters was established in 1980 and expanded in 2019, but it has since reached its capacity.

“We’re thrilled to continue our investment in Birmingham, the city that has been home to our headquarters for more than 45 years.

“As we approach our ninetieth anniversary this year, this expansion is about equipping our staff with the resources they need to serve our members even better, while also providing new opportunities for community partnerships and events.”

Kevin Morris, President and CEO of AmFirst

Most recently, the building was occupied by Pack Health, a former Quest Diagnostics company founded in Birmingham that closed October 2025. Before that, however, it served as a city-supported entrepreneurial incubator since the 1990s. It later housed UAB’s Office for the Advancement of Developing Industries, which eventually moved to the Innovation Depot in 2007.

“110 12th Street North has long been a place where Birmingham organizations have grown and served the community. We’re pleased to see the building become part of AmFirst’s expanding campus and look forward to the positive impact it will continue to have under their leadership.”

Rima Patel, General Counsel of CS Equities LLC, the building’s former owner

With the new space, AmFirst’s goal is to create a “modern, collaborative extension of [its] corporate office.” It will include:

  • A variety of work areas + amenities designed to promote teamwork, connectivity + employee well-being
  • A soundstage to support AmFirst’s expanding marketing + communications initiative, which will include a cyclorama wall, voice booth + green room
  • Flexible meeting spaces + break areas
  • Wellness-focused features

“AmFirst’s ongoing investment in the Switch District of downtown Birmingham reflects the momentum and
optimism we see across our city. Their commitment to growth is a great example of how downtown Birmingham is a premier location for growing companies and how local organizations are helping shape the future of our community.”

David Fleming, President and CEO of REV Birmingham

The move-in timeline hasn’t been announced yet, but AmFirst plans to release plans in the coming months.
