Minor League Baseball announced yesterday that food challenge champion Joey Chestnut is coming to Regions Field to take on the “Birming-Hammer” at the Birmingham Barons game on Thursday, May 28.

Joey Chestnut vs. “The Birming-hammer”

I think anyone would agree when Joey Chestnut is referred to as the greatest competitive eater of all time. He’s won dozens of major titles, world championships and is most known for his reign as Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest winner—for 17 years, to be exact.

Thanks to the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chestnut is making his way to the Magic City to take on a live food challenge: The Birming-hammer, which, according to WBRC, is “a massive, over-the-top creation, piled high with toppings you’ll have to see to believe.”
