New “It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham” sign coming to city’s biggest billboard
Reading time: 2 minutes

Visitors to The Magic City will soon be greeted by the iconic “It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham” saying from the prominent billboard atop the Two North Twentieth building. The Greater Birmingham Conventions & Visitors Bureau has entered into a six-month lease to feature the iconic slogan on one of the most-viewed billboards in the region.
New signage coming to Two North Twentieth

Keep your eyes on the massive billboard atop the Two North Twentieth building over the next few weeks. Starting in March, the sign will feature the iconic slogan, “It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham.”
In use since the middle of the 20th century, “It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham” welcomed visitors to The Magic City on signs at the Greyhound Station, the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and Birmingham Terminal Station. Among other places, the slogan is currently displayed on the north-facing wall of John’s City Diner, an iconic local restaurant that closed in 2023 after 79 years in Birmingham.

The slogan will soon have a new home: the giant billboard atop the Two North Twentieth building in downtown Birmingham. The 179-foot-wide, 26-foot-tall sign currently advertises Alabama A&M University with an image of the school’s logo and its slogan, “Start Here. Go Anywhere.” Previously, the sign was used by famous Alabama injury attorney Alexander Shunnarah, who leased the billboard from January 2023 to August 2024.
According to the Greater Birmingham Conventions & Visitors Bureau, the new sign will start to go up in early March.
