Got travel plans on US-280 Wednesday morning? You may want to consider using an alternate route between Cahaba Village/Whole Foods and Cahaba River Road.

On Wednesday, February 25, ALDOT will inspect the Pump House Road Bridge on US-280 (MP 3.231).

This operation will require crews to close US-280’s outside lanes during the bridge inspection between 9:00AM and 11:30AM, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT).

280 expansion

The bridge inspection is part of ALDOT’s comprehensive US 280 expansion work that began in 2025.

Elements of the plan include:

  • Widening US 280 with an additional lane in both directions between Lakeshore Drive to I-459.
  • Resurfacing both northbound and southbound sections of US-280 between Rosedale Drive and Lakeshore Drive.
  • Replacement of the Pump House Road Bridge.
