Jordan Fisher has done it again, Birmingham!

The Magic City native will step into the lead role of Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors,” a long-running Off-Broadway revival in New York City’s Westside Theatre beginning March 6.

Here’s everything you need to know about Fisher, his already-extensive career and his Birmingham roots.

Suddenly, Jordan!

News of Fisher’s arrival came in early February, which is also when his future co-stars Nikki M. James and Andy Karl were announced.

The classic, campy musical follows Seymour, a sweet and awkward florist, who makes a dark deal with an unusual plant for fame, fortune and love.

Fisher will be taking the place of Joshua Bassett in the lead role. The two of them have more than “Little Shop of Horrors” in common — they both appeared in the popular Disney+ series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

Ready to fly from BHM to JFK? Tickets are on sale now. Tickets for Fisher’s opening performance on Friday, March 6, are already sold out!

Jordan Fisher’s impressive resume

Fisher has more than proven himself on the stage. Some of his other roles have included:

  • “Hamilton” — John Laurens and Philip Hamilton (November 2016 – March 2017)
  • “Dear Evan Hansen” — Evan Hansen (January 2020 – February 2022)
  • “Sweeny Todd” — Anthony (original cast, March 2023 – June 2023)
  • “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” — Christian (April 2025 – July 2025)
  • “Hadestown” — Orpheus (November 2023 – January 2025)

That’s not to mention his roles in some Disney titles like “Turning Red,” “Liv and Maddie,” “Teen Beach Movie” and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

The video game lovers out there may also recognize his voice from “Until Dawn.”

Ever the prolific actor, Fisher got his start in Birmingham.

Red Mountain Theatre

Fisher honed his craft at Red Mountain Theatre, which he calls “his Julliard.” At Red Mountain, Fisher was a part of the pre-college conservatory program, and he spent six years in the intensive program.

“Jordan is so unique that he was almost difficult to cast. For someone who really is going to be a star, you don’t know where they fit because they’re so unlike everyone else.”

Keith Cromwell, Former Executive Director of Red Mountain Theatre

Fisher continues to support Red Mountain Theatre. He contributes to the theatre’s financial aid programs, which helped him get his start. When he’s back in town, it’s not uncommon for him to pop in and say hello to Red Mountain students.

Early on, Fisher landed his first starring role in “South Pacific” at the Virginia Samford Theatre. It was only the beginning.

“At that time, he was a very bright and shining star, and we knew that he was going to the top someday.”

Cathy Gilmore, Executive Director of the Virginia Samford Theatre

He moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to pursue his acting career.
