1. R3 Contrast

Designed to “feel like a high-performance locker room meets community lounge—not a luxury spa,” R3 Contrast is a new contrast therapy provider located in Homewood. Not familiar with contrast therapy? It’s the intentional mix of hot (a traditional Finnish sauna at around 185 degree) and cold (a cold plunge, around 46 degrees) to improve recovery, reduce inflammation and boost circulation.

A new dress rental boutique is coming soon to Homewood! Located at 2902 Linden Ave, Own the Red Carpet is a new biz offering formal and semi-formal dress, jewelry, handbag and other accessories for rent.

The idea was inspired by the owner’s two college-aged daughters, who were constantly attending formals, weddings and sorority events. After seeing the cost of one-time-wear dresses, she wanted to create a smarter option—one that still feels luxurious and fun.

Own the Red Carpet is set to open in Homewood on Tuesday, March 3.

2. Roll Cajun Boudin | Southside

Founded by Louisiana native Matt Coltrin in 2024 as a food truck, Roll Cajun Boudin is set to open its first brick & mortar location on Mardi Gras—Tuesday, February 17. Located in the former Iron City Grill space at 2208 6th Ave S, the new Roll Cajun Boudin will serve up a wide and rotating variety of authentic Cajun fare. From time to time, the restaurant will offer whole smoked alligator and, during crawfish season, will host weekend boils with fresh crawfish driven up from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana—the Crawfish Capital of the World.

Closing

Following its bankruptcy filing in early 2026, luxury retailer Saks Global is closing eight Saks Fifth Avenue stores across the country—including its location at The Summit. Located at 129 Summit Blvd, Birmingham’s Saks Fifth Avenue is the retailer’s only location in Alabama and has been open since 2001. According to a press release, the selected stores will remain open until the end of April.
