A Birmingham tradition is back—and this year, it’s switching things up. The Exceptional Foundation’s 22nd annual Chili Cook-Off returns on Saturday, March 7, bringing all the chili, music and community celebration you know and love—plus a brand-new location.

For its 22nd year, the beloved Birmingham fundraiser is moving to The Urban Center at Liberty Park, just 4 miles from the Summit via 459, setting the stage for an unforgettable day of friendly competition and support for an incredible local nonprofit.

22nd annual Chili Cook-Off event details

The Chili Cook-Off is The Exceptional Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser and has been named Best Community Event by Mountain Brook Magazine and Best Annual Charity Event by About Town Magazine.

Proceeds from the event directly support programs that promote lasting friendships, healthy living, life skills and community involvement for adults and youth with intellectual disabilities.

This year’s event will feature 150+ chili cook teams competing for top prizes—meaning plenty of chili to sample, whether you prefer mild, spicy or somewhere in between. Guests can also enjoy live music, a kids’ zone and a fun atmosphere perfect for the whole family.

The Exceptional Foundation is once again partnering with Alabama Power’s Renew Our Rivers program, one of the nation’s largest river clean-up initiatives. With a new location and an amazing partnership, this year is extra impactful.

“After over 20 years of memories in Homewood, we’re excited to bring the Chili Cook-Off to Liberty Park and share this tradition with even more of our community. We are so grateful for the Homewood support that helped this event grow, and we look forward to continuing that spirit in Vestavia Hills.”

Sara Newell, President and CEO of The Exceptional Foundation
