Did you see the “Snow Moon” last night in Birmingham?

The moon turned full in the morning of Sunday, Feb. 1 and showed out on Groundhog’s Day — both at night and early morning.

February’s full moon is known as the Snow Moon, in reference to the heavy snowfall that is common around this time of year, according to Space.com.

We may not have gotten snow over the past week like our southern neighbors in Mississippi, Tennessee and the Carolinas, but there is something about cold, chilly weather that seems to make the moon shine brightly in Alabama.
