America’s largest homebuilder plans nearly 100 new homes in Bessemer

Texas-based home construction company D.R. Horton is set to build a total of 93 new homes in Willow Trace, a planned subdivision in Bessemer along Eastern Valley Road. Per public records, a local affiliate of the Texas-based construction company recently purchased 50 lots in Willow Trace, a planned D.R. Horton subdivision in Bessemer, for $3.74 million.

Willow Trace by D.R. Horton will be located at 6305 Willow Trace Drive in Bessemer.
According to a recent report by Realtor.com, Birmingham is making waves as one of the top places in the country to buy a home for the first time—and homebuilding powerhouse D.R. Horton is planning a new subdivision to help meet that need.
Founded in 1978, D.R. Horton has consistently ranked as America’s largest homebuilder by volume since 2002 and operates four brands:
- D.R. Horton
- Express Homes, positioned as a luxury residential brand
- Freedom Homes, designed for the active adult market
- Emerald Homes, targeted toward entry-level buyers
On January 8, a local affiliate of the company purchased 50 lots in Willow Trace, a new D.R. Horton Express Homes community in Bessemer. Once complete, Willow Trace will include a total of 93 D.R. Horton-built homes in five different floor plans:
- The Cali | A 1,774 square-foot, one-story, four-bed/two-bath open layout home with floor plans starting at $309,900
- The Freeport | A 1,497 square-foot, one-story, four-bed/two-bath home with floor plans starting at $289,900
- The Haven | A 1,618 square-foot, one-story, three-bed/two-bath home with floor plans starting at $299,900
- The Hayden | A 2,511 square-foot, two-story, five-bed/three-bath home with floor plans starting at $344,900
- The Lakeside | A 2,012 square-foot, one-story, five-bed/three-bath home with floor plans starting at $319,900
Located along Eastern Valley Road, Willow Trace residents will live within driving distance of attractions like Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park and the Frank House Golf Course, dining options like The Bright Star (Alabama’s oldest restaurant) and the new UAB Medical West facility.
