This season, give back to the furry (and feathered) friends in your life by contributing to two local nonprofits’ fundraisers — with an artistic twist.

Here are two adorable ways to support Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue in Hoover and Alabama Wildlife Center in Pelham.

Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue — Adorkable Pet Portraits

If you’re anything like us and have a beloved pet, they are probably taking up a massive portion of your phone’s camera roll. Who doesn’t like showing off their precious dogs and cats?

With this fundraiser comes a whole new way to appreciate your pets.

Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue’s annual “Adorkable Pet Portraits” fundraiser is your chance to get a custom portrait of your pet (of any species) while supporting this local nonprofit. Here’s the catch: Artists of all skill levels are invited to create portraits.

Each portrait is a $20 minimum donation, and pickup is at Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue in Hoover or Gatos & Beans in Avondale. For an additional charge, the original portrait will be mailed to you. Fill out the form on this page to purchase your portrait.

Kitty Kat Haven is also seeking artists to create the portraits. No artistic talent is required, and humor is encouraged. Artists can sign up here.

Act fast! This fundraising campaign ends Monday, Feb. 2.

Alabama Wildlife Center — Lovebirds Paint ‘N’ Sip

This fundraiser for the Alabama Wildlife Center (AWC) s a great opportunity to go out with friends, plan a date night or enjoy a fun day on your own.

Love Birds Paint ‘N’ Sip is a relaxed, guided paint workshop designed for everyone. Participants will paint one of AWC’s live ambassador birds at Oak Mountain State Park.

Wine, soft drinks and light refreshments will be provided, and no artistic experience is required.

This event will take place Saturday, Feb. 15 at either 11AM or 2PM. Tickets are $30 — or for AWC members, the event is free. Sign up on the event’s page here.
